Mylands announce most popular paint colours for 2021
Who are Mylands? Well, for those that haven’t chanced upon them yet, Mylands is Britain’s oldest family-owned paint manufacturer. They’re also a Royal Warrant holder. A sure and certain marker of quality.
If 2020 has taught the interiors and home market anything, it’s that people really do appreciate their home environment and are willingly seeking-out home inspiration ideas to make their space beautiful.
Paint is one of the most significant ways you can change a space. It’s the DIY staple. We caught up with Myland’s CEO Dominic Myland to glean some expert knowledge of what tones are top ranking, for 2021.
Whilst Pure White remains a best seller, CEO Dominic Myland comments that it’s been interesting to see the most popular colours over the last twelve months, ‘It’s been really interesting to see some newcomers, which are full of confident colour. While Threadneedle No.262 and Beauvais No. 195 bring a subtle hint of colour, the bright and rich tones of Burlington Arcade no. 216, Bond Street No. 219 and Mayfair Dark No.218 show how our customers are really embracing a stronger look. ‘ says Dominic.
Green, a forever favourite of mine, particularly in the darker and sludgier hues, is seeing an increase in popularity too. ‘Messel No.39 is also a new entry, and we’ve seen greens in general surging in popularity over the last year’, says Daniel.
‘Messel No.39 is also a new entry, and we’ve seen greens in general surging in popularity over the last year’ - Dominic Myland, CEO Mylands.
What are the most popular paint tones, according to Myland?
A refined and subtle pale pink, white with a hint of orange and umber. Threadneedle No.262 is the perfect colour to make other hues pop whilst adding a hint of rosy warmth in the process. Bestselling Threadneedle No.262 will leave your interior looking light, fresh and welcoming.
A brilliant blend of pure white pigment, China clay and crushed marble. Pure White No.1 has been a bestseller for numerous years. It works brilliantly on its own - an uncomplicated white decor scheme can bring you peace and serenity, a visual palette cleanser – or it can complement any colour on the spectrum.
At the heart of Fulham and Chelsea this colour, retrieved from Mylands’ archive, was originally supplied to a house in this street. Brompton Road No. 205 is a bestselling colour and is particularly popular for kitchens where it brings timeless style to the room. Going green is one of the latest trends with kitchen décor, and Brompton Road is the ideal shade to make a statement.
A smart blue supplied to a property in Bond Street, Bond Street No.219 is a bestseller this year due to being timeless and classic. Deep blue shades like Bond Street No.219 and Mayfair Dark No. 218 ooze style and sophistication.
This intense rich olive is an interpretation of a colour used by Oliver Messel the English artist and one of the foremost stage and screen designers of the 20th century. Messel No.39 is a new shade added to Mylands’ bestsellers list this year. For homes that are decorated with palettes of greys, navy blue or red, olive green is a great tone to add warmth to an interior.
A robust blue, Burlington Arcade No.216 is another new one to be added to the bestsellers list. This shade has been popular due the idea that it adds a cheering shot of blue which is very easy to live with. Burlington Arcade No.216 can be styled chic or relaxed, depending on your personal taste.
