Visit No.197 Chiswick Fire Station
When it comes to East London I know where I’m at. This is my stomping ground. My familiar. But West London? Apart from Richmond and Notting Hill I tend to feel I’m in over my head, and I’m usually quite quick when agreeing to meet my West London friends at their given coffee shop and restaurant suggestions. But this has now changed, ever since discovering a West London destination that feels like home - No.197 on Chiswick High Road.
No.197 is a home-from-home restaurant and bar housed in Chiswick’s original fire station. It’s got all the relaxed vibes I look for when seeking out somewhere to re-charge my caffeine levels and catch up on work. The interiors are on-point, and so is the fine-tuned and curated food menu.
‘From morning coffee to nightcap - and everything in between’
Managing Director Mel Marriott has a distinct eye for creating spaces which are modern and sleek, yet altogether charming and relaxing. Red and Pink velvet upholstered seating pops against a crisp backdrop of white walls and marble and brass bar details.
Concertina doors open onto an intimate courtyard setting for al fresco wining and dining - when the weather permits. It’s the kind of environment where you can easily linger day-to-night.
So if you’re looking for somewhere chic to perch in West London, look no further.
